Casio is trying to take a step in 3D printing world. At CES 2012 they are not showing much new cameras, but a 2D to 3D conversion technology.
Casio utilizes its Relief Painting Technology which is able to add depth and texture of 2D snapshots and then 3D print them. They showed a few examples which are made with some kind of paper, and are quite vivid. Not only your pets can be converted and made 3D sculptures out of them, but also your vacation shots. Check out below the photos from a red eyes dog and a freak out cat.

Are consumers waiting for such technology? Casio is not sure. They were distributing questionaires at the booth and asked for opinion from visitors. "Do you like such a thing?""How much would you like to spend for it?" The answers they got were among 100 dollars and up to 800 dollars. It is quite simple, how good quality can this 3D-artificationizing of images reach? The better quality it is the more price people are willing to pay for it.
