How to make your words last forever? Italian start-up Makoo created an online platform that allows you to materialize emotions and words to create a unique and exclusive jewel. All what you need to do is to record a short voice message. Your voice and the words shape the form and the design of the objects (bracelets, rings, tie clips, cufflinks, etc.) and then they will be created via a 3D printer.
How does it work? First choose your jewel, either a bracelet, a ring or a tie clip. Then customize your jewel by recording a short message. The Makoo jewelry alpha software will change the shape of the jewel according to your words and voice. The online tool also allows you to change the thickness, height and torsion of your jewel and virtually try it on. You can also embed a QR code that records information related to your message. After selecting the material your jewel is ready for 3D printing.
Federico De Simone, Giulio Galassi, Arianna Notari and Dario De Angelis are the young founders of Makoo. This project has won the bronze medal of InnovAction Lab 2013 in Rome end of last month, an event that rewards young Italian start-ups. Eight start-ups were selected out of 120 participants to present their business plans to the jury, composed of more than one hundred investors, incubators, angel investors and mentors.
A trial version of Makoo will be available to the public by September 2013. The platform will be officially launched in January 2014.
