LUXeXceL, a Goes based Dutch company that makes lenses through 3D printing for the lighting industry, has raised 5 million funding from investors, including Munich Venture Partners, ChrysalixSET and Filsa Capital.
LUXeXceL Group is the inventor of the Printoptical Technology, a 3D printing process to prototype and manufacture functional optics. As this one step "CAD-to-Optic" process allows for printing optically smooth structures and surfaces, the printed product does not require post processing. The technology gives optics design professionals a great design freedom. It takes only a few days to design prototypes and manufacture optical products. Accordingto the company, there is not much difference anymore between manufacturing 1 prototype, 100 samples or 10,000 pieces of an end-product.
LUXeXceL achieved a turnover of more than half a million euros last year and it aims at 32 million euros in 2017.
Martin Kröner, Managing Partner of Munich Venture Partners: "We invested in LUXeXceL because of their unique patented process to print Optics. We believe that their Printoptical Technology will change the way optics are designed, produced, and digitally stored across many different market segments. Although the company is focused on the LED Lighting market, as the capabilities rapidly improve we expect LUXeXceL to address similar opportunities in other optical markets."
