3D printing has revolutionized the way we conceive of and build objects and it allows designers to offer customization options on many of their creations. Two entrepreneurs based in a Tel Aviv University accelerator called TheHive have just launched a new 3D printing marketplace "Objectifier" that aims to let average consumers have objects that match their needs.
Objectifiers plans on gathering a community of CAD experienced 3D printer owners who will offer customization services over templates of objects they have created. Its goal is to offer myriad of objects that people will be able to customize according to their needs or wishes. Unlike most other 3D printing marketplace, Objectifiers is dedicated to people who are not 3D printing savvy. They do not have to know about G-codes, CAD, printing temperatures, or support materials.
Designers can pre-set a number of customization possibilities that allow customers to add modifications, for example to change color or size or to add text or pictures. Designers will modify the 3D model and print the object according to customer wishes. They have control over its design, print time, cost and price. This way, customers can get a clear price that includes design and printing fees when they order.
Customers can also place an order for a non-existing object to a specific designer or to the community and will receive estimates.
"We are convinced that for now, the democratization of 3D printing isn't about owning a 3D printer but rather owning 3D printed objects." said Mathias Frydman, Co-Founder & C.E.O of Objectifiers.
Objectifiers is having a pitch night in Israel on the 12th of February. So you can drop by if you are in the area.
