In celebration of Hardware Freedom Day, Aleph Objects, makers of the LulzBot line of desktop 3D printers, is offering a sale on all TAZ 3 3D printers. Anyone can now order the LulzBot TAZ 3 for $1,994.95 (retail price $2,194.95).
Initiated in 2012, Hardware Freedom Day is a worldwide celebration organized by the non-profit Digital Freedom Foundation, aiming to open up revolutionary hackerspaces to their communities and educate the public about the benefits of using and promoting open hardware.
The sale runs in tandem with the company's giveaway of eight TAZ 3 printers to qualified hackerspaces, winners being selected this Saturday, March 15.
LulzBot is the first hardware product and only 3D printer awarded the Free Software Foundation's Respects Your Freedom (RYF) certification mark. Built upon the philosophy of freedom, the company makes plans for printers, including the bill of materials, building plans, manual, firmware and software, all publicly available online.
