French 3D printer manufacturer and engineering company Groupe Gorge (GOE) announced Monday that it has reached an agreement with the German and American shareholders of DeltaMed to acquire 100% of the capital of DeltaMed GmbH, a photosensitive resins developer.
The company was acquired directly by Groupe Gorgé through a subsidiary formed for the purpose, which will eventually bring together all the group's 3D printing activities, starting with Prodways.
DeltaMed has been developing photosensitive products for medical and industrial uses, especially for additive manufacturing applications in the dental and hearing aid sectors, for over fifteen years. It can produce up to 50 tons of resin per year.
GOE acquired 88 percent of 3D printer maker Phidias Technologies for 4.8 million euros ($6.5 million) in May 2013. Phidias was then renamed Prodways which claims to have achieving unparalleled perfection of the parts produced using its proprietary MOVINGLight technology that combines UVA LED and moving DLP. The printers had 1 million euros in sales in 2012 and an earnings margin of 15 percent.
According to GOE, this strategic acquisition will allow the company to offer each customer the specific machine-material combination that best suited each application. Meanwhile DeltaMed will continue to supply resins to other companies in the industry with the aim of strengthening its position as a leading player in this high-potential field.
In 2013, GOE reported revenue of EUR214.5 million. It is backed by 1,300 employees and operations in over ten countries.
