Having already comfortably expanded into the UK, the US, and most recently China, German industrial 3D printer manufacturer voxeljet has now established a new subsidiary, voxeljet India Pvt. Ltd. in Pune, India. Though India’s foundry industry continues to rely on mostly traditional manufacturing methods and structures, the increasing global popularity of 3D printing at the industrial level has led to a growing demand for 3D printers and on-demand parts and services within the country, making it a prime location for the well-established voxeljet to put down roots and begin to build a strong Indian 3D printing market.
The new voxeljet India bureau will be located in Pune, a large automotive and manufacturing center near Mumbai, and Nidhi Shah will step into the role of Managing Director. She brings with her more than ten years of experience in 3D printing methods and additive manufacturing technology, and has played an integral part in establishing the 3D printing industry in India. Her role now will be to integrate the voxeljet brand and promote the development of an operational presence in India’s market, a "big challenge" that she has said she is looking forward to undertaking.

voxeljet also plans to open a service center for the on-demand manufacturing of 3D printed molds within the next 18 months, as they have already successfully accomplished with their other global subsidiaries. The first and current development phase of this expansion, however, will focus on setting up their sales and service structure.
voxeljet is a global leading provider of industrial 3D printing solutions, including high-speed, large-format 3D printers, and on-demand parts and services. The company’s 3D printers employ a powder binding, additive manufacturing technology to produce parts using various material sets. Just last year, the company announced a new Phenolic-Direct-Binding 3D printing method, allowing advantages for sand and ceramic 3D printing. voxeljet has also been involved in developing 3D printed high-performance concrete, and last year it acquired the UK’s Propshop Modelmakers, a company that provides on-demand 3D printing services for the film industry and other clients.
This expansion into India is only the most recent success in the company’s ambitious global growth strategy. In april 2014, voxeljet announced that they would open their first US 3D printing facility in Michigan, and just earlier this month, the German company signed an agreement to form a joint venture with Suzhou Meimai Fast Manufacturing Technology to pursue the industrial 3D printing market in China.
The company certainly seems to be on-track with it’s ‘Global Growth Strategy,’ and we’re anxious to see where it might decide to set up shop next. In the meantime, in order to introduce itself and establish its role within India’s 3D printing market, voxeljet will be attending IFEX, one of India’s most important foundry trade shows, held in Coimbatore between January 29 to 31, 2016.
