Sciaky, makers of the fastest, most widely scalable and most cost-effective deposition process in the metal additive manufacturing market, has today introduced its patented IRISS Closed-Loop Control system, exclusively available to the range of EBAM metal 3D printing systems. IRISS, which stands for Interlayer Real-time Imaging & Sensing System, will provide extensive, real-time monitoring and process data, giving industrial manufacturers an unprecedented level of control over the quality and properties of large-scale metal 3D printed parts.
Consisting of a suite of advanced sensors and controls, IRISS provides part control for the geometry, mechanical properties, microstructure and even metal chemistry of 3D printed components. In addition to monitoring, IRISS’ closed-loop control system can make adjustments to the process parameters that compensate for variation throughout the build process. This means that manufacturers will be able to monitor and manage, in real-time, every single step of the metal deposition process to ensure the final product will meet their—and their client’s—highest standards.
