Simplify3D has released Version 3.1 of its 3D printing software package. Version 3.1 introduces a number of user-requested new features, as well as compatibility with over 30 new 3D printers, including models from XYZprinting, Lulzbot, FlashForge, and PowerSpec.
In a world where many 3D printers come packaged with their own brand-specific software suites, Simplify3D continues to buck the trend with its powerful one-size-fits-all slicing tool. According to the Cincinnati, Ohio-based company behind the popular software, the goal of Simplify3D is to assist users moving beyond the introductory stages of 3D printing, who are perhaps buying a second or third 3D printer, and who need a tool which works with all their hardware. Experienced users, schools, businesses, and any other customers who plan to use multiple kinds of 3D printer can all benefit from a more flexible slicing software, and Simplify3D has aimed to deliver that product ever since its launch in 2013.
The Simplify3D software package allows users to import, manipulate, repair, slice, preview, and start printing a 3D model in no time at all, and includes over 100 pre-configured profiles optimized for individual models of 3D printers. Simplify3D was, therefore, already the most compatible 3D printing software out there, but Version 3.1 introduces compatibility with over 30 new machines. These include the latest da Vinci 3D printers from XYZprinting, the Lulzbot TAZ 6, FlashForge Finder, PowerSpec Ultra, and more. Naturally, Simplify3D has even simplified the process of checking for compatibility by developing a new Printer Compatibility Tool, which users can load up to see if their own 3D printer will work with the new software.
In addition to all the new pre-configured 3D printer profiles, Simplify3D has also added a number of key features with Version 3.1, including several that were suggested by the Simplify3D user community. These features include: new enhancements for USB communication, such as the introduction of real-time error checking, with the software now automatically validating each command sent, letting printers recover from transmission errors rather than shut down; a new system for editing internal supports which combines functionality with the cross-section tool, enabling users to see the inside of a model at areas which would normally be hidden from the outside; improved automated mesh repair; and support for BFB file formats, enabling another generation of 3D printer to take advantage of the software.
Simplify3D Version 3.1 is available as a free upgrade to all existing Simplify3D users.
