Nexeo Solutions, a leading distributor of chemicals and plastics, has officially launched Nexeo3D, an e-commerce platform through which the company will exclusively market and sell the innovative Arnitel ID and Novamid ID premium grade FDM 3D printing filaments. Both filaments were developed through a collaboration between Nexeo Solutions and global science-based company DSM, and were designed to offer makers more versatile and higher grade materials for their FDM/FFF 3D printing.
Through the new e-commerce platform, customers will be able to not only buy but also order samples of the new filaments to see whether they are right for their own 3D printing jobs. Arnitel ID. for its part, is being marketed as a highly flexible TPC that has applications in a variety of areas including electronics, sports, and more. The polymer also possesses high UV and chemical resistance, especially when compared to other flexible polymers like TPU. Impressively, the filament has demonstrated elongation at break of up to 400 percent, no buckling, and high print speeds and layer-to-layer adhesion compared to your standard 3D printing materials. As currently listed on their website, a 500g spool of Arnitel ID (whether in 1.75 or 2.85mm diameter) will set you back €39.95 (about $45), and comes in three colors: black, white, and grey.
Novamid ID, while marginally more expensive than the Arnitel ID filament (at €44.95/$50 per 500g), offers ductile and strong properties which perform well in harsh environments and temperatures of up to 150 degrees Celsius. Like Arnitel ID, Novamid ID also showcases a high layer-to-layer adhesion, though rather than flexibility, it possesses toughness and rigidity. Additionally, due to the material’s unique bridging performance and high crystallinity, you can even print overhangs with it. The premium grade filament, which comes in either transparent, black, or white, has applications in such industries as the automotive and electronics sectors.
The launch of the two 3D printing filaments marks Nexeo Solutions first foray into the 3D printing materials market, though we do not expect it to be their last. With over 23,000 chemical and plastic products offered to industries around the world, there seems to be a lot of potential for the development of new and innovative 3D printing materials.
