Sintavia, LLC, a global metal additive manufacturing company, has unveiled plans to construct a 55,000 square foot 3D printing facility in Florida. Once established, the new AM plant will serve as the company’s new headquarters, and is expected to quadruple Sintavia’s production capacity.
Based in Davie, Florida, Sintavia has had an ambitious year, taking a number of significant steps towards growing its additive manufacturing business. In January, for instance, the company announced a new proprietary process for 3D printing aluminum alloys, and in March it secured an impressive $15 million in equity funding.
Now, with its latest announcement, Sintavia has highlighted its plan to build an expansive, 55,000 square foot 3D printing facility in Hollywood, Florida. The 3D printing plant, which is expected to be finished as of mid-2018, will be equipped with Sintavia’s latest additive manufacturing systems and technologies. Specifically, it will house over 20 million dollars worth of 3D printing machinery, including an automated power handling system, an uninterruptable power supply, an inert gas farm, and enhanced post-processing tools.
“With this new facility, we are excited to continue our leadership in the development of the metal AM supply chain for OEMs in precision industries,” commented Brian Neff, Sintavia’s Chairman and CEO. “We will use this additional space not only to grow our existing competencies in laser and electron beam melting, but also to industrialize new technologies such as metal binder jet manufacturing.”
Not only is the facility expected to increase Sintavia’s production capacity by at least four times, it also has the potential to bring around 135 new jobs to the region for skilled workers and support staff. No doubt that is exciting news for South Florida.
Doug Hedges, Sintavia’s President and COO, also added: “The key to Sintavia’s success over the past few years has been our vertically integrated approach to metal AM. Our ability to rapidly qualify machines and processes—through the use of our on-site laboratories, scanning, and post-processing equipment—demonstrates meaningful value to our customers. This same approach will continue on a larger scale with our new production facility.”
Sintavia’s vertically integrated, end-to-end metal 3D printing production process consists of a rigorous verification process for metal powders, an innovative powder bed fusion (PBF) 3D printing process, and extensive post-processing and testing methods. The company works in a variety of different industries with clients in the aerospace, defense, oil & natural gas, automotive, and ground power generation sectors.
