Geeetech, a Shenzhen-based 3D printer manufacturer, has unveiled the E180, a mini 3D printer and upgraded version of its predecessor, the Me Ducer. The company has launched a crowdfunding campaign for its new creation, priced at $199—a third less than its retail price.
The aim of the new Kickstarter campaign, which has a $50,000 goal and wraps up on October 19, is to bring the exciting new technology to more people across the world. And for Geeetech, the 3D printer is all about helping makers learn as they go.
Engineered to be reliable, affordable, and easy-to-use, the E180 comes fully assembled and looks exquisitely crafted, with its black-and-white color combination imparting a touch of simplicity and elegance.
Its cantilevered design not only allows the printing head to move quickly, lightly, and with stability, but also enables users to observe the whole printing job in full.
Additionally, necessary components such as motors, fans, power supply units, control board and wires, are entirely enclosed in the frame, ensuring that the tiny 3D printer fits in the workplace or home without disturbing its environment.
The 3D printer doesn’t make things complicated with its material compatibility either. It’s designed to print with PLA, a trusted, safe, and environmentally friendly printing material, so that users aren’t worried about unexpected results.
What sets E180 apart from similar-looking products are several practical and convenient features, some of which you won't find on other printers at this price point. The new Geeetech 3D printer offers break-resuming capability, a modular Bowden extruder, a 3.2″ full-color touch screen, Wi-Fi connectivity, and cloud 3D printing. Furthermore, the included EasyPrint 3D App and its self-developed printing and control software makes life easy for even novice makers.
All these functions are designed to make the E180 easy to manage and suitable for the needs of many different users.
But Geeetech is quick to reassure potential customers that this focus on simplicity doesn’t mean the machine is made of cheap parts. On the contrary, the Chinese company emphasizes the quality of its components, including a hotend engineered to maintain a temperature of around 100℃, and a Bowden extruder with a reduced mass that allows for faster controlled motion.
Ultimately, however, the E180 is about developing skills. Through hands-on experience, Geeetech says that 3D printer users can cultivate confidence in their 3D printing abilities when they use a machine like the E180, gaining the courage to try new things, make mistakes, and perhaps prepare themselves for a career in design or engineering.
With the aim of demystifying 3D printing and making this new tech easy and economical for everyone, the lowest price of E180 is slated at $199, a package that includes the 3D printer itself as well as “everything you need to plug in and start printing.” Check out the Kickstarter page for more information.
