Italian 3D printer manufacturer WASP has unveiled details about one of its latest product: the DeltaWASP 3MT Industrial. The 3D printer, an “industrial” version of the company’s large-scale DeltaWASP 3MT machine, is capable of additively manufacturing parts up to nearly one cubic meter in size.
In recent months, 3D printing company WASP has placed a growing emphasis on improving and updating its existing 3D printer models. Recently, for example, it showcased a new version of its DeltaWASP 4070 3D printer (the DeltaWASP 4070 Industrial), and now it has done the same for the DeltaWASP 3MT model.
The original DeltaWASP 3MT was first presented in 2016 at Amsterdam’s Additive Manufacturing Europe 2016 expo, where it drew attention for its ability to 3D print large-scale pieces (up to one-meter in height).
With the release of its new DeltaWASP 3MT Industrial, the company seems to have added some appealing upgrades to the 3D printer including a closed metal structure, an insulated build chamber, and compatibility with a range of polymer-based materials.
These features, explains WASP, offer a number of 3D printing advantages to users. For instance, the insulated build chamber enables better thermal and acoustic insulation, which in turn offer better print quality and noise reduction; while the printer’s closed metal structure eliminates vibrations during the printing process, which helps the 3D printer achieve better surface quality for printed parts.
The large-format delta printer boasts a maximum build volume of 1000 mm (Ø) x 1000 mm (h) (or 1000 mm (Ø) x 900 mm (h) as a cylinder), and is compatible with the Spitfire Extrusion System for the DeltaWASP 3MT Industrial (with either standard 1.2 mm nozzles or 0.7mm). In terms of print resolution and speed, the 3D printer boasts a minimum layer height of 100 microns, a maximum printing speed of 200 mm/s, and a maximum travel speed of 300 mm/s.
Users also have the option to mount a pellet extruder onto the DeltaWASP 3MT Industrial printer and can print “fast and robust” large-scale objects with a nozzle of up to 3.5 mm in diameter. Compatible printing materials include PLA, ABS, ASA, PETG, FLEX, TPU, Polypropilene, and ABS+PC.
Other notable features of the new 3D printer include a new industrial-quality property board, a WiFi module for easy connectivity, a three-arm stabilization system (for a total of nine arms) which increases precision, an end filament sensor, and a heated print bed which can reach temperatures up to 100°C.
Like with other DeltaWASP 3D printer models, the new 3MT Industrial can also be used with the company’s Free-Z-System and Resurrection System which allow users to easily pause and resume prints in case of an emergency or interruption.
“DeltaWASP 3MT Industrial is a self-production instrument used to create objects with big dimensions,” says the company. “It can print furniture like chairs, tables, lamps, coat racks, umbrella stands. Moreover, it is an ideal tool for designers and architects, technical schools, universities, research centers, and more. Another application is in the automotive field.”
WASP’s large-scale delta 3D printer aims to broaden and upgrade the company’s already impressive 3D printing offering. With it, users have the ability to produce high quality prototypes and end-use parts on a nearly one-meter scale. We can’t wait to see what the 3D printed is used to create.
