Rapid prototyping company GoProto is expanding its San Diego facility in order to double the production capabilities of its HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) 3D printing technology. In doing so, GoProto becomes the second-largest MJF 3D printing provider in the world.
Printing giant HP is not long into its 3D printing lifespan, but has already had a huge impact on the industry. Its first Jet Fusion 3D printer made headlines across the globe, while later machines like the Jet Fusion 3D 4210 and last week’s full color Jet Fusion 300 & 500 printers have further cemented the company’s position in additive manufacturing.
HP’s moves are also having an impact on the fortunes of other companies. California’s GoProto, a rapid prototyping firm that uses advanced additive, CNC machining, cast urethane, sheet metal, and injection molding technologies, has massively expanded its San Diego production facility to accommodate more HP Jet Fusion printers.
The expansion has effectively doubled GoProto’s production capacity for both MJF 3D printing and Multi-Material Fused Deposition Modeling (MMFDM), increasing its capacity to serve customers in aerospace, defense, automotive, healthcare, electronics, consumer products, and other manufacturing industries.
“The expansion is the next step in our strategic plan for rapid incremental growth in multiple areas, with a particular focus in additive manufacturing services,” said Jesse Lea, President of GoProto.
Lea added that HP’s printers are unlike any 3D printing technology he has seen in three decades, complimenting the “part precision and strength” afforded by the MJF machines.
GoProto’s MMFDM 3D printing capabilities are provided by 3ntr, an industrial 3D printer company based in Italy.
