The Aurora Group announced today Aurora and 3D printing company Stratasys Ltd have entered into an agreement for the exclusive distribution of Stratasys Idea Series professional desktop 3D printers in China.
Aurora Group, an electronics and office supplies retail giant, entered Chinese market in 1993 and since then, the company has established over 500 business locations and more than 1,000 sales and service platforms in China.
Aurora stated the key reason why it was chosen by Stratasys was its wide retail channels in China. And Aurora sees this agreement as a great opportunity for the company to step into 3D printing market. Stratasys Idea Series professional desktop 3D printers consists of Stratasys Mojo, uPrint SE or uPrint SE Plus 3D Printers and the prices range from US$10,000 to US$20,000 in the U.S. market.
Aurora will provide training, technology transfer and maintenance services for Stratasys Idea Series 3D printers in China, and will build a complete pre-sales and after-sales service system. It is estimated that in three years the 3D printing products revenue will account for 10-15% of Aurora Group's total revenue in China.
According to a China-based industry association, the worldwide 3D printing market reached a scale of US$2.1 billion in 2012, however Chinese market was only 1 billion yuan (US$163.42 million).
