Taiwanese 3D printer company XYZPrinting announced today a new stereolithography printer Nobel 1.0 at Computex 2014, one of the largest ICT tradeshows in the world, today in Taipei, Taiwan.
Stereolithography (SL) is one of oldest methods used to create 3D-printed objects. SLA 3D printer hardens liquid plastic (photopolymer) with an ultraviolet (UV) layer by layer and converts liquid plastic into solid objects.
The Nobel 1.0 features 5-inch color touch panel, Wi-Fi connectivity, and high resolution 3D prints. It has an improved resin-filling system that checks the resin levels automatically so that users do not need to add liquid resin constantly throughout the printing process, says the company.
The Nobel 1.0 is bigger than the popular Formlabs' Form 1 SLA 3D printer, with a build envelope of 128 x 128 x 200 mm (5 x 5 x 7.9 inches). It also features a print resolution of X/Y: 300microns and Z: 25 microns.
The retail price of Nobel 1.0 is expected to be under $2,500, and the company says the printer will begin shipping in the 4th quarter of 2014.
Yesterday XYZprinting also announced two new desktop 3D printers with 3D scanning capability. Check out the photos below:
