Malaysia-based prosumer 3D printer manufacturer VAGLER International has today released a printer specifically designed for use within the education sector.
Founded in Malaysia in 2011, VAGLER International Sdn. Bhd. is the country's first 3D printers manufacturer. VAGLER International is wholly owned by Sweden-based VAGLER AB, which has over 40 years of experience in the plastics manufacturing industry.
Building upon the robust technology of their core V-8x range of FDM desktop printers, VAGLER's V-8E 3D printer includes features designed to optimise student learning and performance whilst enabling safety and ease-of-use in the learning environment.
The VAGLER's V-8E 3D printer features "Child Proof" fully enclosed chassis and magnetic door lock to prevent access to heated machine and parts, ensuring students' safety and hardware longevity. Its "Teacher Lock" enables operator to electronically and remotely lock the operation of the printer, preventing unauthorised usage. The 3D printer is recommended for use in schools, colleges and universities, ages 5 and up.
The V-8E 3D Printer also boasts 1-Click printing, ability to operate multiple 3D printers and print queues from a single workstation.
Features and specifications:
- "Child Proof" fully enclosed chassis
- "Teacher Lock" which enables staff to electronically and remotely lock the operation of the printer
- Magnetic door lock during printing, which prevents access to the heated parts, many operating at 200°C and above.
- Removable, non-heated printing plates, enabling quick access to completed objects.
- 1-Click printing for easy operation.
- Printing resolution up to 50 microns (0.05mm).
- Build volume: 13,500cm3 build volume (27cm (L) x 20cm (W) x 25cm (H)) / 10.6 x 7.9 x 9.8 inches
VAGLER's Marketing Director, Nick Morgan states, "Our printers are designed to an extremely high specification with industrial application in mind; however, as the demand for high quality yet cost effective 3D printers in schools, colleges and universities grew, we realised there was currently a huge gap in the market in which no one was catering for this very specific set of needs.
"We listened to our educational customers and, with their combined input during the R&D phase, developed what we believe to be the first true 3D printer for education; a printer whose precision, durability and reliability will give both students and teachers alike the tools with which to excel."
The V-8E 3D printer is priced at USD$1,999 and is available for pre-order now. Shipping is scheduled for January 2015.
